1. Passport Requirements

  • Your passport must:

    • Be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date.

    • Have at least one blank visa page for stamps.

2. Visa Options

A. E-Visa

  • Eligibility:

    • As of August 15, 2023, citizens of all countries and territories are eligible to apply.

  • Validity:

    • Up to 90 days, allowing multiple entries.

  • Application Process:

    • Submit an application online at Vietnam's official e-visa website.

    • Processing time is typically 3-5 business days.

  • Fee:

    • Approximately $25 USD (non-refundable).

  • Accepted Entry Points:

B. Visa Exemption

  • Countries and Duration:

    • 45-Day Exemption:
      Citizens of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Japan, South Korea, and others.

    • 30-Day Exemption:
      Citizens of ASEAN countries (e.g., Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore).

    • 14-Day Exemption:
      Citizens of Brunei.

    • 90-Day Exemption:
      Citizens of Chile and Panama based on bilateral agreements.

  • Requirements:

    • Passport validity and a return/onward ticket may be required.

    • Overstaying beyond the exemption period may result in fines or penalties.

C. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

  • Eligibility:

    • Only available to travelers who have obtained a pre-approval letter from a travel agency or visa service provider.

  • Application Process:

    • Apply for the pre-approval letter online.

    • Collect the visa upon arrival at international airports in Vietnam (e.g., Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang).

  • Fees:

    • Stamping Fee: $25 USD (single entry) or $50 USD (multiple entry).

    • Service fees for the pre-approval letter vary depending on the agency.

  • Documents Required:

    • Printed pre-approval letter.

    • Two passport-sized photos (4x6 cm).

    • Completed visa application form (available at the airport).

    • Visa stamping fee in cash (USD or local currency).

D. Business and Long-Term Visas

  • Types:

    • Business visa (DN1, DN2) for work purposes.

    • Investor visa (DT) for investors and business owners.

  • Validity:

    • Typically valid for 1 month to 1 year, depending on the visa type.

  • Requirements:

    • Sponsorship from a Vietnamese company or organization is typically required.

3. Special Notes on Entry and Exit

  • Travelers must enter and exit Vietnam through the same type of visa.

  • If you’re planning to leave and re-enter Vietnam during your trip, ensure your visa allows multiple entries.

  • Overstaying a visa can result in fines ranging from $25 to $500 USD, depending on the duration.

4. Overstay Policies

  • Fines increase with the length of the overstay.

  • Serious violations may lead to deportation and a ban on re-entry.

5. COVID-19-Related Updates
